Abstract The problem of the radiation intensities for a plane-parallel atmosphere containing a distribution of emission sources given by an arbitrary polynomial of the optical depth is solved for isotropic scattering. Both finite and semi-infinite atmospheres are considered. The quadratic case is considered in detail as an example.
