Abstract

The tracklengths in mica have been measured for iodine and gold ions in the energy range 0 to 1 MeV/amu. These data and those from previous studies have been compared with the Lindhard-Scharff-Schiott theory for the stopping of heavy ions in matter. Discrepancies from the theory are discussed.
