Abstract
1. 1. A modification of the tracheal chain preparation is described. This modification is easier to prepare, it is more sensitive, and it can be used in comparative studies using the trachea of one animal. 2. 2. The response of tracheal muscle to various drugs is described. Further contraction occurs with histamine after maximal contraction with antigen. Hydrocortisone hemisuccinate did not relax or prevent tracheal muscle contraction from histamine or egg albumin in a sensitized guinea pig. 3. 3. Guinea pig trachea may be passively sensitized in vivo with rabbit anti-egg-albumin serum.
