Abstract
Lake tourism is improving rapidly in the world and in Turkey. Aim of this study was to investigate the tourism potential of the Hafik Lake and its around, one of the rare gypsums karst lakes, and to contribute touristic improvement. As sources of the data, beside documental information, land observation results, we did in the field in different times of year, were benefited. According to our findings, The Hafik Lake and near Lota lakes enables many recreation activities such as water sports, fishing, hunting, ornitology, camping, picnic, walking and resting. Its closeness to the Sivas’s centrum and its restricted tourism possibilities increased local publics’ interest to the lake. However, to evaluate the Lake Hafik as a touristic place was nothing done up to now.
