Abstract

The changes of the steric network present in ethylene-propylene rubber vulcanizates due to the action of heat and thermal oxidation have been studied. A dependence has been found between the curing method and parts of the steric network responsible for the decomposition. The rate constants of the decomposition and the activation energy have been determined. The m-phenylenedimalimide has been found to have a stabilizing effect on the thermal-oxidative degradation of the vulcanizated. The effect of technical carbon on degradation has been investigated.
