Abstract
The theory of boundary diffraction waves (Young, Maey, Rubinowicz) is developed in a very simple way in order to deal with the theory of image formation in the dark-ground field, subject to the assumption of simplified conditions. Some confirmatory experiments are described. Attention is directed to certain anomalous results which may appear.
