Abstract
THIS is a revised edition of a book first published nine years ago. In its original form it gave a full and uncritical account of the many ways there are of testing high-speed internal combustion engines on the test bed, on the road, or in the air. It also described the numerous pieces of ingenious mechanism necessary for carrying out these tests. The present volume adds to this earlier account, but the same remarkably inclusive—and uncritical—plan has been followed.
