Abstract

Objective To investigate the problems existing in medical microbiology teaching for the evening university students and innovate the teaching method. Methods A self-administered questionnaire survey were conducted among the evening university students of 2007 enrollments in Peking University Health Science Center. Then the teaching effects were evaluated . Results The teaching effects of innovation were considered to be helpful. The students preferred studying the knowledge closely related to clinical practice and enjoying the teaching styles using PowerPoint together with web video. Conclusions The course content of medical microbiology should focus more on knowledge closely related to clinical practice.Encouraging active student participation in the learning process and using the teaching styles with not only PowerPoint but also web video were effective to improve the teaching effects.
