Abstract

Objective To evaluate the application value of virtual simulations lab construction on medical microbiology. Methods The network virtual lab teaching platform was realized by 3D Max, 3DTorque, shockwave, Macromedia Flash and others tools. Totally 80 students from clinical medical under-graduates of grade 2012 were randomly divided into experiment group (EG, n=40) and control group (CG, n=40). The traditional teaching was applied in CG. Students simulated actual experiment by the network virtual lab teaching platform in EG. Finally the teaching effects were evaluated through questionnaires, theory and physical examination, and t test was used for data analysis. Results More than 85% students thought that the new teaching method could promote their mastery and application of knowledge, arouse their learn-ing enthusiasm, inspire?their thought, broaden their knowledge, cultivate their innovation consciousness and promote their learning efficiency. EG's score of theoretical and physical examination were (90.48±2.86) and (84.75±3.73) respectively, superior to CG's score (83.23±2.89) and (74.63±3.45). Difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of virtual lab teaching platform on medical microbiology experiment teaching can enhance teaching quality.
