Abstract

English Curriculum Standards enacted by the Ministry of Education in 2001 advocates the task-based language teaching model, which meets the basic requirements of Higher Vocational English teaching. This paper starts with the theory of task-based teaching model and its significance in college English teaching. Through an example of task-based teaching of “Back to Nature”, a text from Book 3 of Practical English, the paper explores the effects and limitations of task-based language teaching and further gives specific recommendations on how to improve the task-based English teaching practice.
