Abstract
An automatic control of discharge current in technological glow discharge electron guns is realised by changing of gas flow to gun volume with its uninterrupted pumping and as a result of changing of pressure in the region of existing discharge. A mathematical model of control of a glow discharge electron gun current by using such gas-dynamic processes is described in this work. Realising of such a model allows computation of the transient characteristics of all blocks and elements of the analysed control system as well as to provide its optimisation. The simulation results obtained were realised for designing control systems for different technological glow discharge electron guns. The range of changing of the gun's current was less than 1-2% with respect to it's static value. The time constant of current regulation can be changed manually and for different technological processes established in the range of 0.1-10 s.
