Abstract

Phthalide-containing monophenol 3-phenyl-3-(41-hydroxyphenyl)phthalide (I) was synthesised by the interaction of o-benzoylbenzoic acid chloride with phenol in a dioxane solution in the presence of catalyst ZnCl2. Resol-type phenol-formaldehyde cooligomers and heat-resistant polymers based on them were obtained by the interaction of a mixture of the synthesised monophenol and phenol in different weight ratios (from 5:95 to 40:60).
