Abstract

HDR (high dynamic range) imaging is to obtain HDR image by fusing a few LDR (Low dynamic range) images with different dynamic range together. Due to the difference in the dynamic ranges between acquired image and actual scene, overexposure and underexposure may appear in HDR images obtained. Thus, the detail information of images may get lost in the result image This paper proposes a method to relieve this problem by making use of the local variance of the input images. Heavier weights are assigned to pixels with richer details through analyzing local variance. Thus, a new synthetic criterion of multi-exposure images is proposed. Experimental results show that the proposed method can restore most of the detail information of input images for static scenes.
