Abstract

The room temperature reaction of [Co(H 2O) 6]Cl 2 with 3-trimethylsilyl-2-pyridinethiol in methanol yields [Co(2-SC 5H 3N-3-SiMe 3) 3]. The crystal structure determination revealed the meridional ligand arrangement, as previously reported for the analogous [Co(2-SC 5H 4N]. Crystal data: C 24H 36N 3Si 3S 3Co, monoclinic space group P2 1 /c, a = 9.416(2), b = 29.163(4), c = 12.371(2) Å. β = 106.81(1)°, Z = 4, D calc = 1.23 g cm −3; structure solution and refinement based on 1032 reflections with F o⩾6 o(F o) (Mo Kα, λ = 0.71073 Å) converged at R = 0.069.
