Abstract

The article discusses research on evolutionary theory and biocomplexity, with information on Darwinian selection in biological evolution as hypothesized by the 19th-century naturalist Charles Darwin. Topics include adaptations which increase an organism's complexity; theories of natural selection; and research by paleobiologist Daniel W. McShea and Robert N. Brandon on the measure of an organism's complexity.
