Abstract

The sessile drop technique has been used to measure surface tensions and contact angles of liquid lead on uranium dioxide surfaces. The influence on these propemies of the metallic solute bismuth and the nonmetallic solutes oxygen, sulfur, selenium, and tellurium has been investigated. Oxygen is clearly the most effective in reducing the surface tension and contact angle of the molten lead. (auth)
