Abstract
The radiation characteristics (spectral irradiance on 250-700 nm and performance) of quartz bromine lamps for spectral irradiance standard are described. In the measurements, the lamps are operated with d.c. source, and set vertically. The radiation is measured by a grating double monochromator with a ground quartz diffuser. The calibration sources for these measurements are NBS spectral irradiance standard and ETL luminous intensity standard. The results are as follows:-(1) In the visible range, the ralative spectral energy distribution of bromine lamps agrees approximately with the monoplane coil filament lamp (ETL standard) distribution.(2) In ultraviolet region, the bromine lamp characteristics are similar to NBS standard (quartz iodine lamp).(3) The spectral irradiances of 310, 400, 450, 650 nm are slightly changed after 100 h operation (within 2%), but during operation, no variation in relative spectral distribution curves is observed.
