Abstract

The study of a numerical method for EM field (EMF) computation by FEM is an important part of CAD design of EM devices. Accuracy and high efficiency of computation are therefore crucial for an optimal program design. However, in the three-dimensional case, the cost of CPU time and memory storage are very large. For solving FEM linear equations, especially for large scale and complicated EM devices, the commonly used methods may not be applied effectively. To solve these problems, various methods were previously suggested and were successfully applied in certain cases. In spite of the above efforts, there are still unsuitable solutions of EMFs. For example, the 3D eddy current problem, because the convergence theory for the real matrix equation is not appropriate all the time to complex equations like 3D eddy currents. For this reason, the substructure-front method is proposed in this paper to solve large complex equations of EM problems. Results validating the approach show great potential.
