Abstract

The paper focuses on studying the current situation and inheritance of language use of the endangered ethnic minority — Bai People in Yinyuan Town, Yuanjiang County, Yunnan Province, China. The research adopts semi-structured interviews and questionnaire survey methods. It focuses on collecting 16 groups of Bai families’ family language usage. The study found that the natural inter-generational transmission of Yinyuan Bai language shows a decreasing trend. It is recommended to enhance the vitality of Yinyuan Bai language from both the macro and micro levels, so as to strengthen its inheritance and protection.
