Abstract
In our study, we have determined the weight of seabuckthorn fruits collected from three representative’s areas of Romania for the distribution of these species: the Danube Delta, Mures and Cluj county. In total, we have examined the fruits obtained from 89 individual plants of seabuckthorn, subspecies carpatica, regarding their weight. In the Danube Delta region (30 plants), the minimum mean value for fruits weight was 233,03 mg and the maximum was 519,96 mg. For the Mures county (30 plants), the minum value was 245,11 mg and the maximum was 516,15 mg. In the Cluj county (29 plants) we have recorded as a minimum the value of 239,21 mg and as a maximum the value of 511,02 mg. If we regard the mean value for the fruits weight in the three studied regions, we can conclude that between Mures and Cluj county there is little variance (356,67 mg and respective 355,40 mg), but for the Danube Delta region the mean value was higher (363,02 mg). Looking at the coefficients of variability for fruits wheight we can conclude that among the studied populations the variability of fruits weight is very big. The values for the coefficient of variability where 26,9 for Mures county, 28,4 for Cluj county and 27.5 for Danube Delta. Phenotypic correlations between seeds weight (mg) and fruits weight (mg)
