Abstract
In the previous communication we reported that the alkaloid sinomenine(Ⅰ)and anew alkaloid,sinoacutine,C19H21NO4,m.p.198°,[α]D-81.6°(chloroform),-116°(alcohol)were isolated from the Chinese drug“Ching-feng-teng”(Sinomenium acutumRehd.et Wils.).Sinoacutine contains a phenolic hydroxyl,a N-methyl,a carbonyl andtwo methoxyl groups.The similarities in colour reactions between sinoacutine and sino-menine or thebainone,namely,purple(soluble in chloroform)with alkaline solution ofpotassium ferricyanide,indicate that they might possess the same type of structure.Aftera further research the structure of the alkaloid is established as(-).Ⅱ:
