Abstract

Stephen G Gasiorowicz 1979 London: Addison-Wesley xii + 525 pp price £16.50 This is one of those excellent texts for students, where the author has managed to convey his subject without overburdening the reader with advanced mathematics. Thus for students in their first year at a British university equipped with a knowledge of basic calculus, vectors and matrices there should be no difficulty in assimilating the large number of physical concepts presented, beginning with the Michelson–Morley experiment and ending with a brief discussion of quarks, colour and charm.
