Abstract

A Mellin transform technique is used to solve the elastic equations for a regular array of cracks at the edge of a circular hole in an infinite elastic solid under symmetric loading conditions. The stress intensity factor and crack formation energy are shown to be related to the solution of an integral equation which is solved using Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature. Two particular cases are considered in detail and numerical results given.
