Abstract
Among the histories of Medicine that have appeared within the past twenty years there is none more fascinating than “The Story of Medicine” by Doctor Robinson. Written in a most interesting and entertaining manner and touching upon many characters and incidences either omitted or too briefly considered in other works of the kind, this story of Medicine merits a place in the library of every physician and should be read by every medical student. Commencing with a brief discussion of Medicine in the Stone age it considers Medicine in Greece, Alexandria, Rome, in the Middle Ages, in the Renaissance, Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries, and concludes with chapters upon the Modernization of Medicine and Medicine in America. The author possesses a lucid and eloquent literary style, well illustrated in the following paragraph concluding the chapter upon the Modernization of Medicine.
