Abstract

The study investigated the status of music in Nigeria's Secondary school system. Necessary data were collected, analyzed and discussed to bring out the true picture of how music stands when compared with other secondary school subjects. The findings showed that out of the forty different subjects offered in Nigerian secondary schools, music was least popular and patronized. Relevant suggestions on how to boost the status of the subject such that it competes favorably with other subjects were put forward. Nigerian Music Review Vol. 6 2005: pp. 47-60
