Abstract

For the static and dynamic regimes of the bistable asymmetric cross-ply composite laminated plates, the theoretical model and the finite element model (FEM) are established. The 2D and 3D diagrams for the supercritical pitchfork bifurcation, which are dominated by the length, the width, the aspect ratio, the ratio of side to thickness, the number of layers and the temperature difference, can be used to describe the static regimes. The restoring force curves (RFCs) and the potential energy curves (PECs) are shown. The single-well vibration, the limit-cycle oscillations, the multiple-period snap-through, and the chaotic snap-through are the dynamic regimes that predominate.
