Abstract

The flow ratios at which each of the inlet and outlet return flows starts and their order are investigated with respect to the internal flow condition. For the better graded turbomachinery in radial balance, the outlet return flow may start first at a high flow ratio and then the inlet return flow follows at a lower flow ratio. For the poor graded turbomachinery those flow ratios may reverse the order. The larger the flow ratio between those two flow ratios, the grade of radial balance becomes better in the former case but it becoems worse in the latter case.
