Abstract

In recent years there has been a proliferation of proposed specification standards for surface texture measurement and characterisation as part of ISO 25178. This note will discuss the background behind this proliferation and ask whether such a large number of standards is strictly necessary. An alternative framework will be suggested, which should keep the number of standards down to a minimum.
