Abstract

The technological developments of information and communication impose today on the institutions of higher education and scientific research the optimal use of the techniques/ materials of education. Likewise, the development of digitization has provided greater flexibility in education, scientific research and data processing. These developments coincided with the Covid crisis, which had a direct impact on the highe r education sector. In the context of facing all these challenges, higher education and scientific research institutions have resorted to using the distance learning/teaching method. This article aims to focus on the distance learning method through three axes revolving around: the theoretical contributions on the distance learning/teaching method and its techniques, the experience of the Algerian university in launching the national project for distance education, and finally, an empirical study directed to a sample of students of the Higher School of Management Sciences – Annaba. It aims to identify the student's point of view on the concept and advantages of distance learning, and their feelings about this method. The results of this article indicate that Algeria's experience in distance learning is still a young experience that requires many conditions in many aspects: social aspect, environmental, technological, and especially pedagogical aspect. Moreover, the hybrid education represents one of the pillars and incentives to promote and develop the distance learning/teaching method in Algeria .
