Abstract

Formation constants of mono- and biscomplexes of thenoyitrifluoroacetone (TTA) were determined at a constant ionic strength of 0.1 by measuring the partition of Be between an aqueous phase and an organic phase consisting of TTA in o-xylene. Although two different previously described methods were used, no significant difference in accuracy was found. An average of the results of the two methods gives the values: beta /sub 1/ = 3.5 x 10/sup 5/ and beta /sub 2/ = 1.25 x 10/sup 11/. (P.C.H.)
