Abstract

Results are given of spectral calculations of low frequency noise detected onboard a satellite during experimental ionospheric modification using high power radio waves. The possible mechanisms for the generation of low frequency noise in the topside ionosphere are discussed, i.e. generation of whistler waves in the reflection region of pump radio wave, excitation of potential waves by beams of accelerated suprathermal electrons and Doppler effect in presence of artificial irregularities of quasi-nutral electric field.
