Abstract

Complexes of picolinic acid with the chlorides and bromides of manganese(II), iron(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) have been prepared. Spectral and magnetic studies have shown that the iron complexes have discrete octahedral structures while the other complexes have polymeric octahedral structures. The decomposition of the complexes was studied by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. The performance of the complexes as colouring materials for poly(vinyl chloride) has also been investigated.
