Abstract

The problems encountered in the derivation of elements from the light curves of very close binary systems are discussed. It is shown that the rectification procedure is critically dependent on the underlying model. The assumption of a contact configuration leads to better coincidence of theoretical and observed light curves. The Fourier analysis method is used to derive the solution parameters of the examples YY Eri and AM Leo.
