Abstract

The solubility parameter has been used to characterize fluorine-containing oxyethylates used as stationary phases in a gas chromatographic column. The solubility parameter δ 2 and its components were determined by inverse gas chromatography. Increments of the solubility parameter correspond to different types of intermolecular solute-solvent interactions. The corrected value of solubility parameter δ T was calculated from increments determined according to a modified Guillet procedure. Relationships existing between solubility parameter, corrected solubility parameter, its components and polarity parameters have been examined. The influence of the structure of fluorinated surfactants upon the examined parameters is presented and discussed.
