Abstract

The German word “Strassendorf” is widely used in Japan. But, is there no difference between the Strassendorf of Japan and that of Württemberg or Poland? Is it not a contradiction to apply a foreign classification of village types to classify Japanese villages, where the historical and social conditions are utterly different? In this paper the authors main object is to give a definite conception of the term Japanese “Strassendorf” He then shows once more the methods of village classifications on basis of morphology.
