Abstract
This small paperback presents the 14 papers and discussion of a conference held in June 1964. Each of the papers is an excellent review and the discussion is short and quite pertinent. The clinical, pathological, and physiological features of the blind loop syndrome, Whipple's disease, carcinoid tumors, Crohn's disease, postgastrectomy deficiency states, and the postgasterectomy syndrome are presented. Two papers on the role of the intestine in traumatic shock and shock-induced lesions of the small intestine were presented. A paper on intestinal immunity in poliomyelitis brought a totally new series of concepts to this reviewer. This monograph is useful to the workers in the field but will bring them little information that they have not
