Abstract

The Siqi 虒祁 cemetery belongs to the Siqi archaeological complex, which is located 1.5 km to the northwest of the Siqi Village of the Gaocun 高村 Township, Houma 侯马 Municipality, and on the northern bank of the Hui River 浍河. It is only 2 km to the north of the Taishen 台神 fortification site. The 1260 burials so far exposed fall into two categories: the vertical shaft pit and the horizontal cave pit. The former category, taking up about one fourth of the entire excavated burials, spans the late Springs and Autumns period through the early Han Dynasty, while the latter, filling the rest three fourth, spans the middle Warring States period through the Han Dynasty. This report presents eight representative burials of these periods.
