Abstract

The behavior of the line of ideal isothermal compressibility was studied for several 2D model liquids by means of numerical simulations. The investigated contour is the line, along which the values of the isothermal compressibility are the same as they would be for an ideal gas. Previously, for many 3D real substances and model systems it was found that this contour in reduced variables can be described by a uniform relation following from the Van der Waals (VdW) equation. In present study this similarity relation has been checked for four 2D model systems, described by square-well potential, triangle-well potential, Hard Disks plus Yukawa Attractive potential, and Mie(12-n) potential correspondingly. It was found that VdW relation is valid for the considered 2D system as well as it was in 3D case. The deviations, like in 3D case, are observed only near the binodals.
