Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of the short-term comprehensive intervention on medical students’ smartphone addiction. Methods 205 freshmen of clinical medicine in Liaoning Medical University (now named Jinzhou Medical University) were randomly selected into intervention group and control group. Ultimately, 169 freshmen finished the survey including the intervention group (84 people) and control group (85 people). Results The intervention group significantly shortened smartphone use time every day (hours) than the control group (P<0.05). Each factor and total score of smartphone addiction in the intervention group were significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions The short-term comprehensive intervention can effectively improve the medical students’ smartphone addiction, and it has positive effects on negative emotion, self-control, frustration and interpersonal communication.
