Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the shear impact retentive strengths of four dentine bonding agents to human and bovine dentine. The bonding agents were used to attach a visible light-cured composite resin to extracted human and bovine teeth. The shear impact bond strength was determined using a hydraulic tester running at close to maximum chewing speed. Statistically significant differences in bond strength were found using the different dentine bonding agents. There were no significant differences in bond strengths between the dentine substrate species for each agent.
