Abstract

The reduced optical anisotropy and reduced orientation angle have been investigated for solutions of polymethyl methacrylate stereocomplexes in dimethylformamide and dioxan. It is shown that the micro shape effect makes the n ain contribution to the birefringence effect observed for the stereocomplexes in these solvents. The radii of inertia have been calculated for aggregates consisting of stereocomplex particles, as well as for individual particles. The dynamooptical properties a d hydrodynamic properties obtained would suggest that the stereocomplexes are rod-like particles, and that aggregates formed by the latter consist of from 3 to 4 uniformly oriented particles.
