Abstract
ABSTRACT Data migration from legacy systems to new systems is a complex process. System implementation schedules and complications often limit the time needed to adequately plan and test data migration strategies. To ensure a more successful and less stressful process, Penn State's Serials Department reviewed the library's recent migration of serials data from two legacy systems to a new integrated library system. The primary recommendation was that data migration planning should be a continuous process, rather than a short-term process, to ensure that all data and variables are considered and to provide sufficient time to plan and test data migration strategies.
