Abstract
New diquaternary ammonium silica based resins were synthesised by using two different methods. These are compared and advantages pointed out. The conditions under which complete quaternation can be achieved are described as well as the significance thereof. The capacities for iridium and rhodium were determined and some batch studies with a selected resin to determine separation factors between Ir(IV) and Rh(III). Very good separation was obtained as proved by loading and stripping.
