Abstract

The article analyzes the issues of the philosophy of non-violence, in particular, focuses on the semantic boundaries of this principle.The negative particle in the name of this position promotes a different interpretation, sometimes reducing the semantic load. Nevertheless, the principle of nonviolence is associated with such moral qualities as strength, informed choice, responsibility, which indicates the breadth of its content. The article presents thoughts about the use of force or the ability to find a compromise, discusses how to understand the position of “stick to non-violence”. In the work, the author turns both to the works of the classics of the philosophy of non-violence, Kant, Gandhi, and to modern researchers in this field
