Abstract
Helical structures play essential roles in physical, chemical and biological properties. In this paper, the supramolecular helical chains are found in eighteen crystallized compounds of l -alanine with inorganic/organic acids ( l -alanine-acid compounds). The ways of supramolecular helical chains self-assembly and the features of supramolecular helical models in above eighteen l -alanine-acid compounds are analyzed in detail and summarized in this contribution. • Supramolecular helical chains are found in eighteen l -alanine-acid compounds. • The supramolecular helix self-assembly in l -alanine-acid compounds are analyzed. • The possible influencing factors on supramolecular helix assembly are summarized.
