Journal of the American Society for Naval EngineersVolume 69, Issue 2 p. 331-339 THE SELECTION OF A SHIPBOARD AUTOMATIC COMBUSTION CONTROL SYSTEM GEORGE J. RASCHER, GEORGE J. RASCHER GEORGE J. RASCHER graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point in June, 1951, receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree and Third Assistant Engineer's license. Following his graduation, the author sailed actively aboard ships of the merchant marine until he entered into active naval service in March, 1953, as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. During his tour of active duty, the author served as Engineering Officer of the USS Douglas H. Fox (DD 779). Since his release to inactive duty, the author has been employed as a control and instrument engineer. In this capacity he has engaged extensively in work involving shipboard boiler and pump controls and instrumentation.
