Abstract

SummaryThe author has examined 35 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 16 patients with ankylosing spondylitis, as well as a comparative group of 25 blood-donors and 10 patients with minor surgical complaints.Blood smears from the material were examined on hypersegmentation by means of “Segmentation Index”.By this method 10 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were hypersegmented, but none of the patients with ankylosing spondylitis. The difference was found to be significant p < 0.05.
