Abstract
Explanatory Note The editorial note on the Schwarzschild paper published in our journalGeneralRelativity andGravitation [16b]mayhave been an acceptable description of the perception of the Schwarzschild solution about 50 years ago. When understood as a description of the situation today, it is not correct. The note printed below rectifies the statements of the old note that do not agree with our current knowledge (Editors).
