Abstract
SUMMARYThe salivary gland cells of Telmatoscopus albipunctatus have six polytene chromosomes variously connected and without any common chromocentre.Heterochromatic material, perhaps in part of sexual orgin, is present at the ends of the chromosomes as well as in single intercalary bands.Polytene chromosomes have frequent asynaptic regions and several heterozygous bands and puffs.The probable meaning of these findings is discussed.
