Abstract

Clopidogrel resistance has been associated with increased periprocedural neurologic events after carotid artery stenting (CAS). Ticagrelor offers an improved resistance profile; however, its bleeding risk with CAS has not been assessed. We examined the safety and efficacy of perioperative dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin (ASA) plus ticagrelor vs ASA plus clopidogrel in patients undergoing transfemoral CAS (TFCAS) or transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR).
